Mardi Gras Night at the Playboy Mansion
February 21, 2004
<

Just arrived at the parking area where the party limo picks us up. Can't wait to dance in my new Pucci shoes! When I got to the party, Julie Strain's sister, Lizzy looked at my pink nail polish and said, "Wow, you're a real live diva!"

Back home, Starlet is so happy to see me...

...and Rainbow isn't even awake!

Okay, the kids are put to bed and it's time for a hot bath and beddy-bye for me too.

Hollywood Collector's Show
January 17 & 18, 2004

Here I am hard at work, signing one of my nudes for a fan.

Dashing Michael Dante and I shared the screen in Born Reckless for Warner Brothers.

Robert Fuller, still handsome as ever stopped to schmooze.

Here's a good shot of my table with an assortment of my pictures.

Howard Keel, still with that velvety voice, had some cheerful banter when I visited his table.

Margot Kidder made a big hit at the show.

Superman flew in and rescued me from the crowds of fans.

A fan asked me to sign this book with a picture of me and Perry's father, bandleader Ray Anthony.

Playboy Playmate, gorgeous Devon Devasquez is Perry's special friend (and mine).

Ever faithful Bob Bethia, my fan club president, looking handome as ever.

My pal, Skip E. Lowe made an appearance this year with his best selling book The Boy with the Betty Grable Legs.

Starlet spent the night in my room eating room service cottage cheese and pancakes. She had a great time at the show!

Sexy Angel Thomkins and Starlet hit it off immediately.

Here I am showing off (as usual) in the middle of the show.

My favorite co-star, Julie Adams. We co-starred with Francis the Talking Mule in Francis Joins the WACS. Julie also starred in The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Starlet greeted everyone with a smile when they came by my table for an autograph.

Here's Kathleen Hughes, a pal from Universal days.

Jan Sterling is a long-time friend as well. She co-starred in High School Confidential

Lou Ferregno, the Incredible Hulk, says hi to Starlet and me. (Right after this picture was snapped, Starlet bit Lou's finger!)

The Golden Boy, Art Aragon (in the brown jacket), lightweight champion of the world stopped to swap stories. Art's pal Julian Eget, Director of the World Boxing Hall of Fame, posed with us for a picture. Art and I were an item for three years once upon a time when I was a teenager. He's still got that old magic! And he still calls me Joanie Olander!

As he leaves, Art takes one last look and blows me a kiss.

Can it have been a half century? Playboy celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in this collectors issue. I'm there in a section of Hef's Favorties, having been on the cover and in the magazine several times. It's an honor to be one of Hef's favs, and it's great to be around to see it. It's particularly sweet since this is also the fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of my career at Universal. The 50th Anniversary Party at the Playboy Mansion will be seen on A & E this December.
The Three M's

This is the cover featuring Marilyn's infamous nude calendar pose.

Later, Jayne and I had our own trompe d'oeil covers.

I gladly share my page in the favorites gallery with gorgeous Dorothy Stratten and sultry, sexy Bridget Bardot.

And across the page is the knockout herself, Pamela Anderson.

A Sixties Vintage Gallery

A shot of me on the couch with my, er, pussycat, named Bridget, for Bridget Bardot.
Three shots by Tom Kelly, Marilyn's photographer who shot her infamous calendar picture.

Note the natural beasts. I still have naturals, though they have blossomed over the years.

This was the Universal Talent School. Here we're taking an acting class from Marlon Brando. From left to right seated: Dani Crane, Colleen Miller, John Saxon (sitting on the floor), Mamie, David Jansen, Brando, Barbara Rush, and Jane Howard. Back row standing, Karen Kadler, Liegh Snowdon, Richard Long, Clint Eastwood, an unknown, Kathleen Case, and Grant Williams.

Playboy Magazine's 50th Anniversary Party

I'm just leaving for the Playboy Mansion. Since there are no private cameras allowed at the mansion anymore, I'll just have to write about what happened. Perry was my escort for the evening which was filmed by A & E for broadcast sometime in December.
There was "A" list entertainment for the evening for a crowd of specially invited guests. Comedian Paul Rodgriguez opened the show and later ended up in the pool. Chicago performed their fabulous hits, followed by the hilarious Drew Cary. Kelly Osborne (stunning in a shiny black outfit against her white skin) closed the show. There was a huge balloon drop and everyone cheered Hef and Playboy on for another 50 years. Hef's brother Keith was on hand, looking handsome as always.

My companions for dinner were Olivia De Berardinis and her husband. Pamela Anderson and her handsome escort stopped to say hello as did Kareem Abdul Jabar. I gave my special squeeze to Tony Curtis who was there with his lovely wife Jill. Also in attendance were long-time pal Jerry Vale and gorgeous Devon Devasquez. Highlight of the evening was Hef himself, surrounded by a bevy of beautiful blondes, looking handsome as I've ever seen him and ready to skipper his magazine for another half century.

A & E Network called recently and asked me to do an interview as part of their documentary on Jayne Mansfield. Of course, I agreed.

Looking sexy just before the crew arrived. I'm posing in front of my newly refurbished fence and courtyard. Since the house is Art Deco, I decided for Art Deco colors: my red Christian Dior tee shirt, a black 50's look skirt, and my new Yves St. Laurent fuck-me shoes.
The A&E crew arrives and starts setting up. The director and producer was David Silver from Van Ness Films, and he worked with a terrific crew.
Lights are being set and camera placed just so. It was a lovely interview that brought back memories, fond and sad.
After the interview, I couldn't resist camping it up outside...
...'cause it's just like riding a bicycle. You never forget how!
And, of course, I couldn't resist getting Starlet, the newest member of my family in the picture.
My new gate! Send a cake with a file in it!
Fence and new Art Deco street numbers. (Shhhhh! I love walking in my fuck-me shoes.)
