Film Noir Festival
Palm Springs
Art Lyons, organizer of the annual Palm Springs Film Noir Festival, invited me to attend a showing this year of my film "Guns, Girls, and Gangsters," then participate in a question and answer session afterward. June 3, 2005 was declared Mamie Van Doren Day in Palm Springs by Mayor Ron Oden. The theater was packed and we had a fun time! The movie had just enough camp to be funny, and the Q & A was lively. Here are some shots as I entered the theater. As you can see, Starlet was a Palm Springs Princess decked out in her jaunty daisy outfit. She was the belle of the ball! The poster is, naturally, the gorgeous photo by Alan Mercer. These shots were taken by Alan as well, except where noted.

My dear friend David Wills and I cuddle up in a 1960's vintage chair in David's ultra-modern home in Palm Springs.

Alan Mercer and I are being interviewed by Rachel of CBS 2 Eye on the Desert. Starlet listens carefully to our introduction. Photo by Mike Anaya.

CBS may have it's eye on the desert, but Starlet has HER eye on Alan. Photo by Mike Anaya.

The Film Noir Festival was a chance to meet up with friends from the studio days. On the right is Kathleen Hughes who was at the festival for a showing of her film "The Glass Web." (Starlet and Kathleen are great friends. Trust me that Starlet doesn't befriend just anybody!) Kathleen's husband, producer Stanley Rubin, also had a film in the festival, "The Narrow Margin." On the left is handsome Michael Dante who appeared with me in "Born Reckless." Michael was doing interviews at the festival for his syndicated radio program. Photo by Mike Anaya.

Hollywood in Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Visitor's Authority opened their exhibit in Hollywood's Movie Museum this week and honored me with a GIANT poster in front of the museum. The photo of me with the bass fiddle was re-discovered a few years ago by my friend Darrin Bush, lead photographer at the Visitor's Authority. I have performed in Vegas many times over the years: a symbol of the Hollywood-Las Vegas connection. (More pictures and video will follow in a few days.) Unless othewise noted, these photos were shot by Alan Mercer who came by the party to visit. Naturally, with Alan shooting, they're fantastic!

Playboy Mansion
Hef's Birthday Party

It's hard to believe that it's here again! Hugh Hefner's birthday party! Perry and I are off to the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills to celebrate with the biggest playboy of 'em all.

The Lexus SC 430 is gassed up and we're off!
(Unfortunately, no pictures allowed at the Playboy Mansion.)

Back home in the wee hours of the morning,
I get a warm welcome from the kids.

I manage to get in a couple of cheesecake poses.

Before I'm inundated with love!

Dog talk: "Take us to bed, Mommy! We're sleepy!"
