 Donald studied fashion illustration at the Art Students League in New York. Among his clients were Vassarette, Max Factor International, and Bullock's. He has illustrated over 40 books including The International Beauty Book, Cooking with Flowers, and books for children in America and Japan. His drawings have appeared in the advertising and/or editorial pages of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Seventeen, Cosmopolitan, and others in the United States, Europe, Scandinavia, South America, Australia. In the course of his career, which started in window display, he has designed jewelry, bridal veils, millinery, dresses, and has taught fashion classes at a Southern California art museum. Donald says, "Paper dolls are my most personal work and are a lighthearted tribute to my own career and to other artists whose work I admire."

Mamie's Favorite Hollywood Costume Designer

 Edith Head won nine Academy Awards. (The photograph below was taken before she won the last one. She was Mamie's favorite costume designer (and everyone else's!), and called Mamie her "Diamond Blonde." It was reported in Variety that when asked which actresses possessed the best bodies she had ever dressed, Edith replied, "Jean Wallace and Mamie Van Doren." Edith made all of Mamie's costumes in white. Some of them are shown below. The photos with Edith/Mamie and Mamie/Gable are Circa 1958.
